Erasmus + Project - Staff visit to Ecole élémentaire René Descartes, Paris.
Posted 7th Jun
During the May half-term 5 members of staff gave up their time to visit a partner school in France as part of an Erasmus + Structured Training Course, funded by the European Union.
The course included cultural visits, language lessons and two days in our partner school, Ecole élémentaire René Descartes.
The West Grove staff were made to feel very welcome by the staff and the children and on both days we were treated to some delicious French food.
The children of Ecole élémentaire René Descartes also performed a song in English they learned especially for the visit. We were able to present the staff with letters that our children had written and bring back some replies for our pupils.
Staff were also able to learn about the differences and similarities in school life, the curriculum, resources and teaching strategies.
Our visit to France is part of our school project,Tell me more: Sharing and comparing, which we established with our partner school in 2015
The aim is for the children to gain a positive interest and understanding of French language and culture as they as they take pride in sharing what they learn and exchanging information about their own lifestyle, culture and history.
Ultimately we want our pupils to become more confident with improved ability in the French language they are learning as they are using it for authentic communication. We think is an exciting journey!!« Back to Latest News
